This is my Observation Bee Hive.  I've had it since Summer 1998.  It has plexi-glas on each side.  The bees get in & out through the window through the hose on the left side of the hive.  The jar on top is for feeding them sugar syrup in the winter, it's too warm in the house & they go through too much food. 
My dad has about 12 or more hives now.  He's been keeping bees since 1997 for honey & wax.
